FAQs
How far in advance should I book my bridal hair & makeup for my wedding?
For the best chance of securing your preferred Toronto bridal hair and makeup artist, we recommend booking 9–12 months in advance, especially for summer weddings and Saturday dates, which fill up the fastest.
Most brides book 6–9 months ahead, but we can sometimes accommodate last-minute requests depending on your group size and artist availability.
While winter weddings used to offer more flexibility, they’ve become increasingly popular—meaning there’s no longer a true “off-season.”
If you have your heart set on working with a specific artist or mobile beauty team, it’s always best to reserve your date as early as possible.
Do you offer any "off season" discounts?
We don’t offer off-season discounts, simply because there truly isn’t an “off-season” anymore. Weddings happen year-round now, and winter dates have become just as popular as summer celebrations—especially in Toronto.
In addition to bridal work, Jessica and our artists are also booked throughout the year for commercial, fashion, and advertising projects, so our schedule stays consistently full. For that reason, our rates remain the same no matter when your wedding takes place. This ensures every bride receives the same high level of care, artistry, and attention to detail, regardless of the season.
If I don't get false eyelashes, will it cost less?
No—skipping lashes doesn’t reduce the price. False lashes are something we include with every makeup application as part of creating a polished, camera-ready finish.
Even the most natural lash makes a beautiful difference: it lifts the eyes, adds subtle definition, and enhances your look without relying on heavy eyeshadow. In fact, every bride featured on our website is wearing some form of false lash—from soft individuals to full strips or lash extensions.
With the right style and application, no one will ever know you’re wearing them. We want you to look and feel your absolute best, and lashes are an important part of achieving that effortless, elevated bridal glow.
Can I see a Wedding Price List?
Absolutely — you can explore all of our wedding prices, packages, and bridal services right HERE! Our pricing page outlines everything you need to know so you can choose the hair and makeup options that best fit your wedding day vision.
Is there a minimum number of people required to secure a booking?
Yes, during peak wedding season (April–October), we require a minimum of 2 people and 4–5 services to reserve your date. This ensures we can schedule the right artists, plan your timeline properly, and give each booking the time and attention it deserves.
That said, exceptions can sometimes be made depending on the schedule and the day of the week—so if you’re unsure, please feel free to ask.
During the off-season, minimums are more flexible and are approved at the discretion of the artist. While we do our best to accommodate smaller bookings, availability can vary, so early inquiries are always recommended.
Do you book Sunday weddings or early morning appointments?
Yes, absolutely. Toronto Beauty Group is happy to accommodate Sunday weddings as well as early morning start times.
Depending on how early we need to begin and how many artists are required, an early-morning fee may apply. This ensures we can schedule your beauty team properly, arrive fully prepared, and create a smooth, stress-free start to your day.
If you’re unsure, just reach out — we’re always happy to check availability.
What is airbrush makeup, and is it better?
Airbrush makeup is applied using a fine mist from an airbrush machine rather than with traditional brushes or sponges. It’s a favourite in HD film and television because it creates an incredibly smooth, flawless finish without settling into fine lines or pores.
For brides, airbrush offers several benefits:
lightweight feel with full coverage
long-lasting (12–24 hours)
water-resistant — ideal if you expect tears, humidity, or sweat
beautiful for acne scarring or uneven texture
That said, airbrush is simply a technique — not inherently better or worse. What matters most is the skill of the artist and the products used.
If you’re interested in trying airbrush at your bridal preview, please let Jessica know in advance. Whether we use airbrush or traditional foundation, our goal is always the same: a base that looks radiant, even, and flawless all day and night.
I just want a really natural makeup look, does that cost less?
No, it is the same price for a "natural" makeup look as it is for something more "dramatic". In actuality most people are surprised how much makeup goes into that "natural" look. In fact, it's actually harder to make someone still stand out and eye catching in pictures but also retain a natural makeup look. A sign of a talented makeup artist is how well they can apply a "natural" makeup effect. Also it's important to remember you are not just paying for the product the artist is using but also their time, skill and experience.
Are there any travel fees?
For most areas in downtown Toronto, there are typically no travel fees.
For locations outside the downtown core—such as Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, or the broader GTA—travel fees may apply depending on distance, timing, and the number of artists required.
If your wedding is taking place outside of downtown Toronto, feel free to reach out and we’ll happily provide a customized quote. Clients are also responsible for any parking fees at hotels or venues for artists traveling by car.
Are Lashes Included?
Yes — false lashes are included with every makeup service, at no additional cost. Our artists carry a curated selection of high-quality strip and cluster lashes to complement every eye shape, age, and style preference.
Opting out of lashes does not reduce the price of the service, as they’re a complimentary addition we include because they truly elevate the final look. In fact, every bride and client featured on our website is wearing some form of false lash or extension.
False lashes add subtle lift, definition, and brightness, which translates beautifully in photos. They’re flattering for everyone — even moms and clients who wear glasses (we simply select a softer, shorter style that won’t touch the lenses).
Our goal is always to help you look radiant, fresh, and effortlessly enhanced on your wedding day, and lashes play a big part in achieving that polished bridal finish.
What should I bring for touch ups?
Every bride receives a beautifully curated mini touch-up kit with her makeup service. Your kit includes:
a sample of your wedding-day lipstick
a disposable lip brush
blotting sheets
translucent powder + puff
lash glue
a few bobby pins
This ensures you can stay fresh, flawless, and photo-ready from morning to night.
Anyone else receiving makeup services on the wedding day should bring their own lipstick and a pressed powder for light touch-ups throughout the day — these are usually the only two products most clients need.
What’s Included in the child makeup?
If a child is having hair services and makeup is also booked for your group that day, we happily provide complimentary child-friendly makeup during the touch-up portion of the timeline.
This includes:
a soft lip gloss
a little eye shimmer
a light coat of mascara
It’s a sweet, age-appropriate way to help them feel included without applying traditional makeup products.
Do I have to get a preview?
A preview isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly recommended. Your bridal preview is your chance to try out your wedding-day hair and makeup, see how everything wears throughout the day, and make any adjustments to style, colour, or intensity.
It’s equally valuable for your artist — seeing your features in person allows us to tailor the look perfectly to you. A preview also removes stress on the wedding morning, because your look has already been designed, tested, and customized.
Beyond the makeup and hair, your preview is also an opportunity to get to know your artist and make sure your personalities and communication styles are a great fit. Since your beauty team is one of the first vendors you’ll interact with on the wedding day, you want someone you feel comfortable with, confident in, and genuinely enjoy having around.
How far in advance should I book my preview?
It depends on whether you’d like to secure your wedding date before or after your preview.
Your date is only officially reserved once a signed contract and deposit are received. If you prefer to have a preview before committing to your wedding booking, we recommend scheduling it as soon as possible so your date doesn’t get taken in the meantime.
If you’re comfortable securing your date first and booking your preview later, a good timeframe for most brides is 1–3 months before the wedding. This allows your hair length, colour, and skin tone to be close to what they’ll be on the actual day, and gives you time to purchase accessories such as veils, pins, or extensions, if needed.
Why does the preview cost so much?
A bridal preview is often more detailed and time-intensive than the wedding day itself. This is the appointment where we design your entire look from scratch, make adjustments, refine ideas, and explore what will photograph beautifully and last throughout your celebration.
Previews are booked in generous time blocks — 2–3 hours for hair and makeup, or 1–1.5 hours for individual services — to ensure you never feel rushed and we have the space to try variations, adjust tones, and customize the style until it feels perfect for you.
Coming in with inspiration photos or a general direction is helpful, and from there, Jessica and her team work with you to interpret and elevate your vision. This level of one-on-one artistry, planning, and customization is what ensures your wedding-day look feels effortless, polished, and truly “you.”
Where will my preview take place?
Most previews take place at Jessica’s private home studio near King & Spadina, a central and convenient location in downtown Toronto. The studio is easily accessible by transit — the closest subway stop is St. Andrew Station, and both the 510 and 504 streetcars stop nearby.
All wedding day services are performed on location, whether that’s a hotel, home, or your chosen getting-ready space. This ensures your morning is relaxed, seamless, and tailored to your schedule.
Can I book a preview on the weekend?
Weekend previews are generally not available, as Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days for wedding bookings.
Occasionally, a Sunday appointment may be possible depending on the schedule, but most previews are booked during weekdays or weekday evenings. This allows us to give brides our full attention on wedding days while still offering flexible options for previews.
What forms of payment are accepted?
For your preview and deposit, we accept cash, Interac e-transfer, or credit card (in person only). On the wedding day, the remaining balance can be paid by cash or credit card. Please note that credit card payments may be subject to a 2.4% processing fee.
To keep your morning calm and stress-free, we recommend having the remaining balance collected before the end of your hair and makeup services. The goal is for you to slip into your dress feeling relaxed and excited—not worried about tracking down payments.
How much is the retainer fee?
The retainer varies depending on how close your booking is to the wedding date. Typically, the initial retainer is 25–50% of the total services for your bridal party. If 25% is paid initially, an additional 25% is due two months before the wedding.
The remaining 50% is due on the wedding day if Jessica is personally handling the booking.
If your wedding is being looked after by another member of our team, the final balance is due 24 hours before the wedding day.
Your retainer covers all services booked for the wedding morning, not just the bride, and ensures your date and artists are fully reserved in our calendar.
Am I expected to tip on the wedding day?
Tipping is completely optional and entirely based on personal preference. While it’s always appreciated as a gesture of gratitude, it is never expected or required. The most important thing to us is that you feel supported, relaxed, and beautiful throughout your experience.
What makeup do you use?
Every artist with Toronto Beauty Group works with a curated kit of high-performing, professional-quality products. We use a blend of luxury, pro, and industry-trusted brands chosen for their longevity, skin finish, and ability to photograph beautifully in all lighting.
You can explore a full list of our favourite brands and kit essentials on our What's In Our Kit page.
How should my bridal party and I prepare for the wedding day?
To keep your wedding morning running smoothly and on schedule, everyone should be ready at their assigned start time. Before your wedding, you’ll also receive a detailed preparation document outlining everything you need to know for a seamless, stress-free experience.
For makeup:
Please arrive with a clean, makeup-free face.
For hair:
Hair should be clean, completely dry, and free of product, unless otherwise advised.
Curly hair may have a light de-frizz product as long as it doesn’t leave the hair crunchy.
Fine hair clients may use a soft volumizing mousse.
Curly hair must be blown out smooth before the appointment if you’d like an updo or downstyle that requires sleek, polished finishing.
If your hair tends to get oily, wash and dry it the morning of.
Coarser or drier hair types can wash the day before.
Wardrobe & Setup:
Wear a robe or button-down top for easy changing.
Please complete any ironing or steaming the day before, or in a separate room that morning.
We’ll need a large table surface, several chairs, natural lighting, and access to electrical outlets for an ideal setup.
Your prep document will outline all of this clearly, including a personalized schedule for the morning. Proper preparation ensures a calm, enjoyable getting-ready experience and helps us create the most beautiful and long-lasting results for both you and your bridal party.
Is there anything you need for set up at the house or hotel on the day of the wedding?
For the smoothest experience, we ask for a setup space that is bright, spacious, and close to natural light—kitchens and dining rooms often work beautifully. Good lighting helps us create the most flawless, photo-ready makeup and perfectly polished hairstyling.
Here’s what we typically need:
Lighting & Power:
A space with natural daylight if possible
Access to outlets (or an extension cord) for hairstyling tools
Furniture:
A standard-height table and a few chairs (please no coffee tables — they’re too low for artists to work safely and comfortably)
For makeup, a bar stool or higher chair is ideal but not required
For hair, a regular chair with a lower back works best
Space:
We do need more room than most people expect, especially when multiple artists are on site. A comfortable, open area helps us stay organized and allows your morning to flow smoothly.
If you’re unsure whether your space will work, feel free to send us photos ahead of time—we’re always happy to help you choose the best spot.
How long does each person take to get ready?
Timing varies depending on the person and the style they’ve chosen, but a good guideline is approximately 1.5 hours per person for both hair and makeup.
More specifically:
Makeup: 30–45 minutes
Hair: 45–60 minutes
Some styles, however, require additional time, such as:
Hollywood waves / polished glamour waves
Styles incorporating clip-in extensions
Intricate updos
Very long or very thick hair
These looks are more detailed and technique-heavy, so they may extend the timing for hair beyond the standard window. Your personalized schedule will reflect any extra time needed so the morning stays relaxed and beautifully organized.
A custom timeline is created for every bridal party to ensure the flow of the morning is smooth, calm, and perfectly paced.
Can you handle large bookings or groups? Do you bring additional help?
Absolutely. Toronto Beauty Group is fully equipped to take on large bridal parties and multi-service bookings.
For groups requiring more than 6–7 services, we will bring in trusted associate artists. These artists are highly skilled and personally selected to ensure consistency in quality, style, and timing. There is no additional fee for associates when they are brought in simply to accommodate the size of the group.
If you prefer a condensed morning timeline—for example, a later start time or an earlier finish—additional artists may be required to meet the accelerated schedule. In these cases, associate fees may apply, and we’ll discuss this with you in advance so your timing is perfectly tailored to your day.
Our goal is always to create a calm, efficient, beautifully organized wedding morning—no matter the size of your bridal party.
Are their discounts for large group bookings?
We don’t offer discounts for larger bridal parties because the workload increases significantly as the group size grows.
Bigger groups require:
• more artists to be scheduled and coordinated
• detailed timelines + prep documents
• additional admin, communication, and planning
• earlier start times and extended hours on wedding day
• more travel, kit use, and on-site setup
To ensure a smooth, stress-free morning for everyone, we staff your wedding properly and maintain the same high standard of service for each guest. Our pricing reflects the level of organization and additional resources required for larger parties.
